Rakeback

What is rakeback?

Rakeback is giving back a part of the poker room's earnings to the player. When a poker player plays in a poker room, a small percentage of the pot goes to the poker room as commission (called rake). Affiliate's receive payments based on the amount of rake generated (e.g. 30% of net revenue). Rakeback is tracking a players rake, and providing rakeback (e.g. 25% of net revenue, allowing you to earn 5% of net revenue). So you share a bit of your earnings to keep your players happy.

Is rakeback allowed?

Rakeback is allowed on most site's, however there are limitations. For example rakeback caps (read more). When using PAS you are certain that providing rakeback is allowed on those poker rooms.

How is rakeback calculated?

It's based on the amount of rake generated or the amount of net revenue. It varies by room, but most poker rooms deduct bonuses from the amount of rake to calculate net earnings. If an player generates $1000 in rake, and receives $100 in bonuses, net income will be $900.

How do I earn money?

You'll receive a bigger share of the revenue than you will give your rakeback players. Let's say a player rake's $1000 a month. He received $100 in bonuses, so his net revenue will be $900. You'll reward your rakeback players with 32% rakeback, while receiving 40% of net revenue. Those 8% will reward you $72 a month for that player.

What are 'rakeback caps'?

Rakeback caps are limitations to the rakeback percentages you can offer your players. When rakeback started out, there was little competition. Then more people provided rakeback, trying to outbid each other in order to receive a bigger player base. They were offering such high percentages that margins became very small. So they started negotiating higher revenue percentages with poker rooms. To put a end to this, rakeback affiliates and poker rooms sat down and decided to enforce a rakeback cap (not allowing to offer a higher percentage than agreed upon). Rakeback affiliates will earn more, causing the industry to grow. High volume players often try to get an under-the-table deal, but getting caught providing those deals will cost you your affiliate account.
